India’s Ride Towards Accessibility

Ride 4 Accessibility is a rally to be held on 24 July 2016 at India Gate at 8AM. The

rally would have bikers, cyclists, joggers and many more people who would

pledge in support of making the society accessible. The event will begin with

three bikers groups from three different places in New Delhi i.e. Khan Market,

Vasant Kunj and South Extension who will reach India Gate. The rally would begin

at India Gate from where the bikers would go towards Rashtrapati Bhawan and

then cover the boundaries. This rally would be an inclusive rally. The event will

also have a performance by “Rangreza-The Band”. Dr Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble

Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences and Shri Prakash

Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development will be the Chief

Guests. The event will be presided by Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Hon’ble Minister

for Social Justice and Empowerment.

This rally is an initiative of Accessible India Campaign by Ministry of Social Justice

and Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Person with Disability

(Divyangjan). This event is being organized in association with Save the

Quest, Bikers for Good and Bajaj Avenger Club – Delhi.


Accessible India Campaign was launched on 3 December 2015 with an aim to

achieve universal accessibility for the person with disability. With one more step

towards making people aware and making them understand their part in the

campaign the Department of Empowerment of Person with Disability (Divyangjan)

has come up with the Ride 4 Accessibility Rally.

On asking about the initiative, a student from NIMH, Gaurika said

“It a very good initiative by the Government of India and I appreciate it, I will love to be a part of

it and also will ask many to join me in this event”
